Malinois Anatomy Chart

Back: region between withers and loin.
Brisket: the chest or rib cage between and just behind the front legs.
Carpals: the wrist, the bones of the pastern joint.
Croup: the rear portion of the back above the tail.
Ear: the auditory organ, consisting of three regions: inner ear, middle ear, and the most important pinna (or leather), which is supported by cartilage and which affects the expression of the dog.
Elbow: the posterior region of the articulation between the upper arm and forearm
Foreleg: the portion of the forelimb between the elbow and the pastern.
Forechest: front part of the chest.
Forefoot: the front feet.
Forehead: the anterior bones of the cranium.
Hindfoot: the back feet.
Hips: the joints at the uppermost part of the hindlegs.
Hock: the collection of bones of the hind leg forming the joint between the second thigh and the metatarsus; the dog's true heel.
Hock Joint: Joint formed by second thigh and back pastern, ankle of the dog.
Loin: region of the body on either side of vertebral column between the last ribs and hindquarters .
Muzzle: front part of the face from the eyes to the nose
Neck: the section of the body between the head and shoulder region.
Nose: organ of olfaction on the tip of the muzzle.
Pastern: part of foreleg between knee and foot, or between the hock joint and paw of the hind leg.
Shoulder: the top section of the fore leg, extending from the withers to the elbow, including the upper arm. The true shoulder region's bony component is the shoulder blade (scapula).
Stifle: the joint formed by the upper and lower thighs. The dog's knee.
Stop: the step up from muzzle to skull; where the nose stops and the forehead begins.
Tail: the hind-most part of the backbone, set on the rump.
Belly: upward curve of underline of body
Thigh Lower: area from stifle to hock, also called second thigh.
Thigh Upper: extends from the hip joint of the pelvis to the stifle joint.
Withers: top of shoulder blades at the junction of neck; the point from which height is measured.
